discovery

ok, tell me off if you wanna but I seriously am bored of reading the yellow book.
anyways I discovered something today (maybe a little too late). I was actually thinking how much will a PATA to IDE converter cost, but somehow this thought can now be gotten rid off my mind, maybe.

yea. this is how it goes.. I was installing sims 3 on my dad's computer - to test it's performance of windows 7, and the installer was on my sis' portable hard disk.
somehow the hard disk or should it be cable/power problem is that irritating where it keeps disconnecting and I have to held it near my ears to listen for the spinning up sound and making sure it doesnt d/c again.
then I saw this screw that is missing on the cover of the connector.

after installing sims 3 and tested it, I removed the screw on the other side of the cover.... and found out something really interesting, it's a PATA to IDE converter and a laptop hard disk.

this is really damn useful.. there's an old laptop where my cousin actually passed it to me to "repair" it, but to no avail.. it's too slow to be used actually. lol.

I took the hard disk out of that laptop and tried connecting using that PATA to IDE converter.. and it works!

these are the two hard disks:

I felt a sense of achivement today - with much of physical pain.

basically I fixed my dad's desktop computer by re-installing the CPU heatsink (it was 90°C CPU temperature, like wtf) and after fixing the stupid DEFECT heatsink properly, the temp is now down to a proper 50°C.

also, don't know why and how I suddenly felt enlightened on how to connect the S/PDIF to the HDMI. I realized that my dad's desktop is able to use one of the cable to direct signals from motherboard S/PDIF to the VGA HDMI. so, the HDMI cable now not only have visual and also audio signals.

oh and, I installed windows 7 on my dad's computer.

but, still there's this brain agony. damn NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE, it's all freaking memorising work. 9 chapters of knowledge to memorise, how?!

so finally the game Wolfenstein has finished downloading.
installed the game and the gameplay is totally like some Call of Duty mod. well, it's activision, so no doubt it'll be.

ok, so we had maths exam and it all ended just in a flick of 2hours.
whether am I able to get >75, I dont know seriously. all in my heart now is I am just afraid of careless mistakes. damn. maybe I really shall not think about it.

anyways, so I took some time to chill off by playing nfs prostreet, I realized drifting is damn fun when a proper car with proper tuning is obtained. so I have been crazily drifting all along + some grip races. gas and smokes are let off man~

yea, after the next sleep - it's back to revision mode again, sigh. ninfra is what the heck..

  • go for kayaking class 1-star (thanks to my sis, lol).
  • try to find a damn part-time job.
  • go juin long's house and fix his desktop, for real this time.
hmm among all nfs series.. I think pro street has some nice graphics, next must be shift.

ok seems like the DJ MAX Trilogy aint able to be played since there's no crack.
*DELETED*

anyways, friday isnt a school day but I went back to get the nvst EoM re-test. basically, I scored 94/100, but I dont feel any sense of achievement/happiness at all as this feels like cheat.

I have to repeat this - time flies, it really does.
it's time to do something productive I guess.

maybe after exams, it's time to UML and have fun.

Thursday, August 20, 2009

omg, I cant believe im downloading DJMax Trilogy for PC.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

finally mini-projects are all down. next up is exams..
4 modules, 4 papers. oh man, I am still damn worried about CNET and NINFRA. sigh.

oh yah, damn the NINFRA.. our lecturer suddenly pops up to our class and told us that the last quiz is scheduled to the date of our NINFRA paper.. what the hell.

/fear.

time phreaking flies. the 12+ hours that we used for activity feels like shortened/quickened.
everything appears in front of you and disappear before you can even get a quick glance.
just like how our NVST exam ended and hours have passed.

I've spammed photos of the past on facebook, those lovely days + some sad times too (at least for me).
I really wish there could be a class reunion or something, like seriously. sadly I cant be an organizer since I am not meant to be one and also my best friend isn't around in SG yet.

oh yea, I don't know why am I rather hyped up to TALK these few days, 5 msn chats... JL, Nigel, Zongda, Soloice, haowei.

anyways, next week is our course official exam week. 2 modules I might flunk are CNET and NINFRA. these 2 crap lots of memorizing work, omg.

and also, maybe I shall just give up on that letter. I really dont know..

Sunday, August 16, 2009

oh yah, I have to blog this.. of my dreams, again.

this morning, as suggested, I was dreaming. yes, dreaming about going out with friends, with the brotherhood.

we reached our destination, going up to the top-most storey, then there's this girl on the counter, who seemingly to know me, but I don't know her. that girl chatted with me, she knows my name I dont know hers, and I tried guessing but to no avail. what the hell? shit man, what kind of dream is this.

after a long chat, I went around to explore the place. and I saw one of my friend working in there. he was controlling the security of the place. then what else, I think I have forgotten.

all I can remember is that long chat with the girl, though what we were talking about wasn't captured.

P.S.: I think im addicted to crysis gameplay.

Friday, August 14, 2009

okay, im getting sick of cs:source again. freaking game just pisses me off everytime.
time for a month or maybe more of halt from this retarded "target practice" game.

2 weeks more to semestral exams. seeing the CNET and NINFRA on the time table really scares me. these are the two modules which I really cant understand. oh wells, I'll just see on the luck I have and maybe try to practice using the past year papers.
------------------------------------------------------------
IM STILL THINKING OF WHETHER SHOULD I ..... OR NOT.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

ARGH, I cant sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I realized im stuck in many ways. sigh.

dang sleepy, as usual. took a nap but I guess I wont be able to sleep now.
shit man, everytime when I try to sleep, my mind will went wild thinking lots of crap. loads of thoughts just fills in everytime my eyes are closed.

anyways, the next thing I hope to accomplish is the cnet mini-project.. just gonna finish it off. and also one more thing which I really hope I have the guts to do so.

Monday, August 10, 2009

maybe I should just post this.

seriously, I have absolutely no idea what causes me to remind me of all these.
went out with the brotherhood yesterday to watch fireworks near esplanade park, padang. when we all meet, we went to esplanade, hoping to settle down there.

but as usual, things always go on with A LOT OF DISCUSSION and all the accept and rejects. bad things aside and I shall continue. then we actually decided to go marina square to get some bite. we chose burger king and I ordered the lovely BK FISH meal. it really filled my stomach.

after that we went arcade to have some fun. juin long, hao wei and kenneth played house of the dead 4. some epicness happened down there while we I was wandering around. there's this parapara machine which you'll need to dance to get the score. one of the guy danced like some I-dont-know-how-to-describe, basically he moves his whole body and shaking hard.. (sounds wrong)

so we went to the place where we are supposed to go and stayed there to wait for the fireworks. my comment is it's kinda average, all the fireworks didnt stay in the sky that long, it just disappears with the air around it like immediately.

and yea, nigel was saying he's having this intuition that something is gonna happen and there wont be any fireworks.

after watching the fireworks, we started to move off with the IRRITATING CROWD. fucking smell of cigarettes all over the place. all the useless fucking bastards destroying people's health.

yea, we (or maybe only me), hated the crowd so much that I sweared rather loudly. lol. we eventually managed to move off. there's this freaking long discussion of where to go again to have supper.. (when we didnt had dinner). everyone chose bishan and some took it by force. oh, and nigel went off to some pub.

long john silver.. golden deal. nice fish to eat. lol.

--------------------------------------------------------
P.S.: I dreamt of something unbelivable this morning. something about my ex. oh dear.

Saturday, August 8, 2009

installed crysis on my desktop, also again to test its performance.
the results are seriously wayyyy much better than when I played it on Vista and XP.

the lag is there, yes.. BUT.. there's no more stuttering, loading speed is like 30 to 40 % faster. no more alt-tab lag.

I say lag is due to my graphics alright, the FPS is lowered down by my graphic card like seriously. most of the lag encountered before didnt happen in windows 7.

windows 7 really handles memory very well. loving it!!!
right now my desktop is totally empty.. no games, no anything. most games are single player and I have completed them.
it's just internet that I can browse.

played with VMware earlier by installing windows 2000. however, old games weren't able to be played. sigh.

also, I am currently pondering over whether shld I actually get started with the CNET mini-project and get it over and done with or not. thing is, the IP design scheme is hell irritating as I don't know what to allocate. this is what actually stopping me from starting the project.

ARGH.

Friday, August 7, 2009

just finished watching mr brain from ep5 to ep8 on the HDTV.

the way the show is plotted is seriously very interesting.
loved the way they solve the cases and mysteries.
after so long, it's my another 'first' time of early 12 hour sleep.

The SuperFetch feature in Windows 7 differs significantly in approach and cache usage from its counterpart in Vista. Under Vista, the caching of applications starts immediately at launch. As the graph below shows, after three minutes just over 1GB of memory has been allocated. In Windows 7, SuperFetch starts after five minutes and after 10 minutes a little more than 600MB has been allocated. By that point, Vista’s SuperFetch has allocated more than 1.5GB.

Microsoft has also thoroughly revised the SuperFetch feature, which results in quicker operational readiness after startup. Anyone migrating from Vista will notice a reduction in disk activity after startup, because SuperFetch spends less time loading applications into memory in Windows 7, which means less waiting for the system to be ready to use after launch.

more car mods for GTA IV! omg, MOAR pls.

Audi S4 and R8.

Monday, August 3, 2009

like seriously, I realized driving in GTA IV is seriously damn fun compared to the grand theft auto series of GTASA and before.

don't ask why but that feeling with the addition of physics is really a whole new experience. plus with all the moddable files with patch 1.0.4.0, it makes the game even more different with the model changes and all.

Sunday, August 2, 2009

oh nice. somehow found a link to this blogger draft.

looks like an updated version of the current version -> yea called draft, a better name for beta I guess? it does not have an option to upload videos though..

for those using firefox, and dont wanna use this draft, you can use CTRL + F5, which is a shortcut to refresh the page AND CACHE. the blogger post editor should appear fine by then.

a new way to blog.. hmm. it's my default now.
